Among Us 2


Hi everyone! Time for a big post!

First of all, thanks so much for playing and enjoying Among Us. It's been crazy to see how much more popular Among Us could be than we ever imagined.

Second of all, yes. We're confirming Among Us 2. This post is all about what that means and why we're doing it.

First and Most Important

Among Us 1 servers will stay alive for as long as it has enough players to start games. When we first started, we found that players couldn't really play when the servers had fewer than 30 - 50 players per hour. But lately we have 70,000 - 110,000 per hour. We'd be crazy to shut off the servers on you in 2021! And even if Among Us 2 gets lots of players, we'll just run both at the same time. If Among Us 1 servers shut down, I will open source the code so players can run servers instead.

But why a sequel?

Among Us 1 has been out over two years. It started as a tiny local-multiplayer-only game and has grown and grown and grown. Online multiplayer took 2 months and a total rework to make happen, then 6 months per extra map, and horrible server growing pains along the way. It really was not created to be this big. Because of this, it's extremely hard to add more things without breaking existing things. Frankly, it's terrifying to add in more things because the game is so fragile. Fixing this would require recreating core sections of Among Us, then making sure everything else still works on top. It's actually even harder than just making a new game.

So the first goal of Among Us 2 is to be made to withstand growth. We want to add to it at least as long as Among Us, but with fewer bugs along the way.

What will be in Among Us 2?

Well, first, we plan to basically include Among Us 1 in some capacity. Don't expect us to drag and drop all three maps directly over, but we think it's important to keep the simple play of Among Us with crewmates and impostors. But do expect some new options and balance tweaks. For example, we know very well that 3 impostor needs more than 10 players to be balanced, so 12-15 player games is a goal.

Second, we know that hide and seek is a very popular mode, but it is tough to find or exclude those games. Expect matchmaking to work very differently to better support custom modes and skill levels.

Also, we know that forming groups and making friends is tough. Accounts and friends will be in Among Us 2 straight out of the gate.

Better moderation: We know that hacking, bad behaviour, and toxic language is a problem in Among Us 1 and we definitely don't like it. But we never had the tools to really combat it effectively as a three person team, so expect Among Us 2 to launch with fewer hacks, a report button, moderators, etc.

But we've always known that the thing that would really make Among Us 2 unique from Among Us 1 is more roles. We aren't far enough in the design to confirm any roles or how they will work, but the primary addition for Among Us 2 is more complexity than just Crewmate vs Impostor. This should add a lot more replayability to the game and we're excited to see how we can shake things up for more advanced players.

We have a lot of other things we know players want to see, and a lot of surprises in store as well. So we definitely think Among Us 2 will be worthy sequel. That said, we want to get people playing it quickly, so we will probably start small in Early Access so we can grow Among Us 2 with player feedback. But the above is some of the key bare minimums before we launch at all.

Will it cost extra?

Yes, but.

We know a lot of players just started playing Among Us 1 which makes it look like we're quickly moving to a sequel, so we're going to try carry over some stuff from Among Us 1. We haven't confirmed that we can do any of this yet, but we might:

  • Launch with a discount coupon for Among Us 1 owners on Steam.
  • Keep Among Us 2 Mobile free but with (removable) ads.
  • Have free big content updates like maps and game modes. We're not making that mistake again.
  • Have in-game currency so we can break up big cosmetic bundles and let people buy/earn just the things they want. 

When will it come out?

We really do not know at all. We just started planning. There is no art, programming or sound done at all. For the record Among Us took about 6 months to enter open beta (early access) and 6 more months to leave open beta. Among Us 2 will probably take at least as long to enter open beta, and will probably spend longer there.

Unlike Among Us 1, we expect to make Among Us 2 for PC first, then port to mobile. This will let us focus on making a great game faster because updates can come out in minutes on PC, where mobile can take hours or even days.

So basically

We're super hype to start Among Us 2. It'll take a while, but we'll make sure it's worth it. We hope you'll stick around to see what we can do.

Oh, also, we're launching merch on Friday August 21 at 12 PM (Noon, PST). Everything is on pre-order, but there will be shirts and a plush crewmate. The best places to hear when it launches are on Discord and our mailing list, but we'll do our best to get the word out.

Add the change map type in lobby

Hey Innesloth!! I have an idea for a map.

I think the Among Us 2 must have a sopping centre map.

Shopping centres are cool, and we can buy things.

I have an idea too for ELEVATORS. the map could Have 2 floors: the parking slot and the shopping center itself.

The shopping center emergency button would be at the restaurants zone.

The ventilation can't be forgotten!

The IMPOSTOR could have a hidden room.

Well, I think that's it! I think it's a cool idea for a shopping centre. Oh, don't forget the easter eggs!

I'm very happy with the new among us coming out.

I hope it would be as good as the first.

I have an idea for a game mode.its called peanut the rules are:
Imposter cant move when crewmate is in vision
Though imposter can move anywhere when lights are off
Only lights can be disabled
No Reports
Using Cams and Admin is allowed
No Emergancy
Crewmates Win by tasks

Imposters Win by Killing all crewmates

Add a voice chat where it automatically activated when meeting and private voice chat for killers and if possible give each player a unique ability/ies dunno just suggesting cuz its annoying when dead man talks and talking while playing that does not making any sense cuz we are using different apps to communicate

they dont have plan to add voice chat in the game

Will the tasks be all different, some new or will they be the same?

A suggestion: the task progress bar should only be visible to crewmates during meetings.  It's too easy for crewmates to meta-game by watching the task progress bar while spectating a potential impostor faking tasks.

I have sugestion for each impostor have different abbilities like invisible, see people in map, and making  near crew blind

and for crewmates ability to short track impostor after kill crew, block some room to be unable to be sabotage, hides in locker or under tables

it's not possible i think the map was small

Hiding under tables and in lockers seems fun and interesting, but the rest doesn't really go well with the desing of the game

def gonna buy it I got some suggestions though,

Add the ability to make maps (To spice it up)

Add new class for the crewmate and the imposter

Split groups up

Cleaner graphics 

Add longer vote times

penalties for voting off the wrong player

More things for ghost to do so people dont just leave

maybe it should have a non microphone option

that would honestly be pretty smart bc you spend so much time typing

they will not add voice chat in the game

I have a suggestion for an option that could be turned on or off in The Round showed by the host. My idea is that the killer could do the crewmates’ tasks but the Ursula of that would be something like counting as two crew mate tasks or other things that help the crewmates and punish the imposters if they want to go incognito

Just some suggestions on roles so that it could be more chaotic and fun
For Crewmates:
+Doctor-The player can tell how fresh the body is after reporting (display fresh in green for 1-5 sec/bloat in yellow for 6-10 sec/decay in orange for 11-15 sec/ dry in red for 16+ sec. Only for the doctor) and doesn't have to do medbay tasks (the player can tell how fresh-dry the body is but not the exact seconds)
+Mechanic-The player can temporarily or permanently lock one vent and doesn't have to do wire tasks 
+Guard-The player can track one player for one round and is usable once per 3 rounds (or something) and doesn't have to do weapons tasks
+Captain-The player can remove or add one vote to other players but can't be applied to self, and is only usable once per game(I'd imagine it just having +1 or -1 at the person that the player has chosen ,so that the crewmates doesn't know who the captain is) doesn't have to do admin tasks
+Scientist- The player can tell how the player died (it'll make sense in the impostor section)if the person was killed by an alien, ai/robot, psycho,etc. and doesn't have to do specimen tasks

For Imposters:
+Alien- The player can implant an egg on a crewmate that ticks down for 5 seconds and is only usable once per game (it's good since the crewmate knows he has been implanted by an egg and can leave the imposter before dying. Would be good if the crewmate dies next to a crewmate. Would be bad if the player with the egg pushes the button first) the animation is just straight out from the alien movie
+AI/Robot/Cyborg- The player can turn invisible and leave a moving hologram of another player after killing a crewmate for 5 seconds (it's good to move pass an on coming crewmate in hallways and trick them on voting the hologram.It's bad if you suddenly appear next to a crewmate) only usable once per 3 rounds(or something)
+Psycho- The players kill cooldown is halved after one kill but doubled after 2
(it's good if you kill a crewmate who's alone and you hopped into a vent, wait, then kill another lonely crewmate, then follow a crewmate to wait for the cooldown, it's bad if another crewmate comes in and reports the body)
+Shapeshifter- The player can copy another crewmate or imposter that lasts for 10 or so seconds ( it's good if the crewmate you're copying is alone in a room and you kill someone in front of everyone. it's bad if the player you copied is with you)
+Swapper- The player can switch a player into another player. Essentially, you can swap bodies with another player or you can change their bodies ( I just thought that up)
+Influencer- The player can control another player for 10 seconds, meaning he can still kill another crewmate in that spanned amount of time or just put the player next to the other imposter (it's good if the player gets voted off or get's killed by the other imposter. It's bad if you are caught standing by in a room)

And more maps please! You can change the suggestions to make it even more hectic! Looking forward to it in the next year or so since I love this game!

Put freddy gamemode 7 players 6 monsters 1 security man see camera and close or open doors and there is a battery comment like if like it and they can not stand on the door more than 10 seconds and when battery is off he will can not close doors it will be cool please put it 🎮🎮

Hi! So this game is really getting popular after 2 years of age, I play a lot of games like this so i've got some ideas for roles.

1. Detective- So this role would have a tablet or some sort of device in which he can see all rooms at once for 20 seconds (nerf is op) however this will have a 30-50 second cooldown so it won't be that op, he also has a stun gun ability to use if he's being skeptical about someone.

2. Spy- So this role has a very special ability that you need to use wisely and their goal is to make the impostor win. This guy would be in team with the impostor having the ability to see other's role, for example: if I wanna find the detective, i can use my ability to scan other players to see their role. (30 sec cooldown)

3.The guard- So this role is part of the crewmate team. He can go to a certain place in where he can watch with CCTVs all around the place, he also has the ability to see other player's role like the spy. btw he can go to the guard room for 30 secs, after that he will automatically go out and also 1 min cooldown.

4. The sabotager- I know, I know the impostor can already sabotage BUT this guy can specifically sabotage anything with 25 seconds cooldown. For ex: He can sabotage the cam in the room where his team is at, so if the impostor just killed a guy alone in a room, he can destroy the camera in there so the guy at security wont be able to see in that room, The guard can aslo be affected.

5. The silencer- Impostor role, but only a bit useful, or you can just put this guy's ability to the impostor itself. He has the ability to silence anyone, so for ex: if someone saw the impostor kill, he can silence the guy that saw the killing for 1 emergency meeting, avoiding the impostor being caught too fast. Has 1 emergency meeting cooldown..

6. The technician- This guy is able to launch a drone, a Remote controlled car, and put cams into different spots with it being completely hidden, So he can control an RC, and a drone with a camera and can move around the map for 20 seconds, with a cooldown of 30 seconds. The impostor team can shoot the drone and the RC to destroy it but also has a cooldown of 30 secs to do that again. The technician can abandon his drone or RC  quickly to run away if someone is coming

so 3 roles for the evil team and 3 roles to the good team. 50/50 all fair and square btw make the crewmate have the ability to run 30% faster than normal but has a cooldown of around 20-30 seconds

What happens to us who buy among us 1? will we used that in among us 2 too? or we should buy the among us 2? its a waste of money of money if you will shut down the among us 1 and do not migrate us in among us 2.

Among Us 1 isn't going to be shut down, right? and the ones who bought the first game will have a discount, right? I just read

among us isn't going to be shutdown they will just give a open source code to the players to make their own server but there'll be a lot of damn cheaters since its among us 1 its different to among us 2 maybe they will not transfer it to among us 2 

among us 1 owners get a coupon code to buy the second one and the first game will continue having servers running and if they do shut down the first one there will be an open source meaning private servers that also means the game will become free
and also among us should have different game modes and maps and stuff so that's not a waste of money for people who own the first one mostly because of the coupon code that saves a bit

Super hyped for this. 2 suggestions however, i have noticed that there have been a lot of crewmates sticking together making it basically impossible for the impostor to win. I don't know how we would solve this problem as making it so there are 3 spots to save during a critical sabotage would make it impossible in situations of 1 impos 2 crewmates.  And make the vents somewhere in between the restrictiveness of skeld and the craziness of mira hq.

EDIT: i just remembered i saw someone make a suggestion for a toppat clan hq map on reddit and it looked awesome.

I think some impostors should literally impersonate another crewmate like a shapeshifter. Or just implant an alien egg inside of them. That would probobly solve the problem

That doesnt address the issue very well. If there are 4 people left 1 impostor and 3 crewmates and then you stop o2 and 2 people go to o2 and you and the other goes to admin. If you kill in admin, the other people are going to find the dead body and immediately know who killed.

Will there be console ports for the second game?

I always like the idea of games getting new roles(it's very fun to see in TTT for example), my one worry is that the introduction of different roles will see a reduction of the Deception element of the game, and cause it to end up in a duel between the two teams like most other Deception games tend to.

most likely will be a classic mode that you can chose to be in special servers for with only the new maps and skins but not any of the roles or whatever is added that changes the gameplay a lot
