Among Us 2


Hi everyone! Time for a big post!

First of all, thanks so much for playing and enjoying Among Us. It's been crazy to see how much more popular Among Us could be than we ever imagined.

Second of all, yes. We're confirming Among Us 2. This post is all about what that means and why we're doing it.

First and Most Important

Among Us 1 servers will stay alive for as long as it has enough players to start games. When we first started, we found that players couldn't really play when the servers had fewer than 30 - 50 players per hour. But lately we have 70,000 - 110,000 per hour. We'd be crazy to shut off the servers on you in 2021! And even if Among Us 2 gets lots of players, we'll just run both at the same time. If Among Us 1 servers shut down, I will open source the code so players can run servers instead.

But why a sequel?

Among Us 1 has been out over two years. It started as a tiny local-multiplayer-only game and has grown and grown and grown. Online multiplayer took 2 months and a total rework to make happen, then 6 months per extra map, and horrible server growing pains along the way. It really was not created to be this big. Because of this, it's extremely hard to add more things without breaking existing things. Frankly, it's terrifying to add in more things because the game is so fragile. Fixing this would require recreating core sections of Among Us, then making sure everything else still works on top. It's actually even harder than just making a new game.

So the first goal of Among Us 2 is to be made to withstand growth. We want to add to it at least as long as Among Us, but with fewer bugs along the way.

What will be in Among Us 2?

Well, first, we plan to basically include Among Us 1 in some capacity. Don't expect us to drag and drop all three maps directly over, but we think it's important to keep the simple play of Among Us with crewmates and impostors. But do expect some new options and balance tweaks. For example, we know very well that 3 impostor needs more than 10 players to be balanced, so 12-15 player games is a goal.

Second, we know that hide and seek is a very popular mode, but it is tough to find or exclude those games. Expect matchmaking to work very differently to better support custom modes and skill levels.

Also, we know that forming groups and making friends is tough. Accounts and friends will be in Among Us 2 straight out of the gate.

Better moderation: We know that hacking, bad behaviour, and toxic language is a problem in Among Us 1 and we definitely don't like it. But we never had the tools to really combat it effectively as a three person team, so expect Among Us 2 to launch with fewer hacks, a report button, moderators, etc.

But we've always known that the thing that would really make Among Us 2 unique from Among Us 1 is more roles. We aren't far enough in the design to confirm any roles or how they will work, but the primary addition for Among Us 2 is more complexity than just Crewmate vs Impostor. This should add a lot more replayability to the game and we're excited to see how we can shake things up for more advanced players.

We have a lot of other things we know players want to see, and a lot of surprises in store as well. So we definitely think Among Us 2 will be worthy sequel. That said, we want to get people playing it quickly, so we will probably start small in Early Access so we can grow Among Us 2 with player feedback. But the above is some of the key bare minimums before we launch at all.

Will it cost extra?

Yes, but.

We know a lot of players just started playing Among Us 1 which makes it look like we're quickly moving to a sequel, so we're going to try carry over some stuff from Among Us 1. We haven't confirmed that we can do any of this yet, but we might:

  • Launch with a discount coupon for Among Us 1 owners on Steam.
  • Keep Among Us 2 Mobile free but with (removable) ads.
  • Have free big content updates like maps and game modes. We're not making that mistake again.
  • Have in-game currency so we can break up big cosmetic bundles and let people buy/earn just the things they want. 

When will it come out?

We really do not know at all. We just started planning. There is no art, programming or sound done at all. For the record Among Us took about 6 months to enter open beta (early access) and 6 more months to leave open beta. Among Us 2 will probably take at least as long to enter open beta, and will probably spend longer there.

Unlike Among Us 1, we expect to make Among Us 2 for PC first, then port to mobile. This will let us focus on making a great game faster because updates can come out in minutes on PC, where mobile can take hours or even days.

So basically

We're super hype to start Among Us 2. It'll take a while, but we'll make sure it's worth it. We hope you'll stick around to see what we can do.

Oh, also, we're launching merch on Friday August 21 at 12 PM (Noon, PST). Everything is on pre-order, but there will be shirts and a plush crewmate. The best places to hear when it launches are on Discord and our mailing list, but we'll do our best to get the word out.

It would be nice if you could name your servers and/or see a servers settings before joining so you could see what type of server it is

Hola soy argentina no hablo inglés TvT pero quiero que agreguen en el amor us 2.    

  Policia:el policía es un tripulante dónde es como el detective pero de otra manera el policía puede investigar quién es el impostor, puede arrestar durante 17 o 20 segundos como el jugador lo pida, para retrasar el impostor para llegar al botón de emergencia o charlar con el tripulante o impostor en privado para averiguar quién es el impostor o una coincidencia  de ese impostor 

Mapa (casa austronauta) eso quiero que lo pongan en among us 2 

Juez:el juez es como tripulante pero no puede arreglar o hacer misiones solo investigar solo puede pensar quien es el impostor y puede tomarse su tiempo cuando lo haga lo necesario

Criminal:en vez de impostor hay un criminal en la nave puede hacer como el impostor como: sabotear , subir alcantarilla y etc cuándo ve un tripulante lo mata y se esconde pero algunas veces

 mata al impostor pero no es un héroe 

Armas nuevas: yo quiero que agreguen armas como hacha, garra de tigre etc para matar al tripulante

This picture is a concept I made for the alien appearance 

(Other than the ones that are there)

Alien :you should add an alien role (appearance you can make it look how you want)and alien gets out of suit and reveals his appearance and he could eat a body and leave no body behind but it has a cool down and he can glitch cameras but it needs electricity and has cool down and it can lay eggs and when the hatch they are like little creatures and they kill crew mates and can swim in acid

SerialKiller : (or you could change name)he is like imposter but can not sabotage and he can hide body or throw it but he leaves tracks or evidence BUT the crew mates can’t see it only detective .And when it is carrying the body it is slower 

Detective :Is like crewmate but he has the button inspect and it looks like a magnifying glass and that makes detective see the traces that serial killer left behind and can find body

Scientist/Doctor :is like crew mate and has chemical and that repels alien or blinds imposter and can fix cameras glitch and heal players with chemicals  but the can not talk because they would say who killed them so they can only do tasks to win.And they can exterminate eggs or hatched creatures 

Spy:can go through vents and that’s how it can spy and has a tablet that has access to cameras and he can place two more cameras  and can move them later if they change mind  (so good side) Shop/store

Can there be coins/diamonds/gems (any of them )and you earn them and you could 

buy hats pets skins and suits

Among Us is so awesome and good  I can’t wait for Among Us 2

I love your ideas, and I hope that the developer sees them. Your first picture reminds me of a Zerg parasite from StarCraft.

Random Idea:

Impostor chat

Moderator applications and moderator list

Group (example: If u join among us discord server u get the role u have in it as name tag

vip (gives u pets,skins, etc.)

vote kick

Youtubers rewards (need to link their yt to their account)

New pet ideas:

Animals (cat, panda, wolf, etc.)

New Kill effects ideas:

Gets gun and shoots the player and then stomps it

An option to make the tasks harder? Maybe have hundreds of tasks, with new ones constantly added so that they players have to think each time. Also, could some of them be made to interact with each other. Like one might require a code to be entered which you would get from completing another task. Or one task is to power up a battery which you need to take to PC to power it up.

when everyone is in the meeting discussing who the killer is, it would be useful if the map option was still visible. For instance, when someone says, they found a body in the Electrical room, currently, only experienced players will know where it is located.

What if it was possible for an imposter to wear the skin of a corpse.

Although the idea may seem vulgar, it is a quite simple concept. Like the current version of Among Us, if the imposter kills a crewmate, the body will be left there until the body is reported or an emergency meeting is struck. However, this time, the imposter has the choice to either leave the corpse as is, or switch the corpse for its own skin while also inheriting the name and cosmetics of the murdered crewmate. While doing this, the body, or rather the skin of the imposter will be left behind, causing more confusion.

(E.g. imposter is blue and crewmate is orange. imposter kills crewmate and swaps skins, making the imposter now orange)

This could be done as many times as the imposter pleases, leaving behind whatever identity they have inherited at the moment of a switch. However, there is also a penalty for skin changes. The imposter will drop blood from a random range of time, dripping at a faster pace every time a new identity is taken:

FIRST TIME: Drop every 35-45 seconds

SECOND TIME: Drop every 25-35 seconds

THIRD TIME: Drop every 20-25 seconds

Other Aspects of the Penalty:

  • When an emergency meeting or body report occurs, the timer resets.
  • When the player stops moving, the timer stops accordingly, not dropping any more blood as long as the imposter is standing still
  • Blood disappears after 3 seconds
  • Unlimited Identity Swaps (For the penalty of dripping more blood)

I hope you consider this GAMECHANGING idea! I really love the game InnerSloth!

I really like that idea it will probably make the games last longer and more confusion as you said

This is a cool idea but I don't think it would work in a group of friends that are all in the same voice call because it's clear that the person talking isn't the skin that is alive. However, this would be a really interesting idea for public games where people aren't talking to each other.

Could Among Us 1 or 2 receive console ports (At least Xbox Series S/X and PS5, hopefully Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch)

If released on console, would it be cross-plat?

Also, cross-over deals. Sorta. Like sign deals with companies like Mojang and Bethesda to have more cosmetics like a Creeper Mask or Vault 111 Jumpsuit for your character

I mean it's only free on mobile because of ads. 

A bit harder to put ads onto a PC game. And people are much less tolerant of ads on PCs

Can you make an option to transfer your purchases from amung us 1 to amung us 2? I don't want to spend more money on the same stuff that I already have. Maybe like in amung us 1 we get a code and a button to see the code,  then in amung us 2 there will be a button to see your code. When you type in your code in amung us 2 you'll get all of your stuff from amung us 2. I was thinking a 12 digit code so its secured.

Something that would be cool would be items that give minor buffs like, say coffee that makes you move faster for 60 seconds, and it could be a non-required task to produce items like these, so it would never be necessary to finish a mission, but could be something for people who have finished tasks to do to be useful during long rounds, especially rounds where there's an imbalance of player familiarity of the game. It would just be cool to feel like there's always some way to be useful, aside from *just* watching security monitor type stuff, when you've run out of other things to do.

Please , dont add more roles to among us 2!. Thats exatly why among us is popular , because its extremely simple to play. Thats why all another games about these themes dont get popular as well( town of sallen , werewolf among us , etc ) . Please , who read this help me this to get to anyone on innersloth. ;(

I feel Among Us 2 will most likely have a "Classic Mode" of some sort with just Crewmates and Imposters. That'll be the best thing to do anyway

I do agree with the re-playability argument the authors made. It'd be nice to have them be opt-in roles so the game is easy to learn but you can still spice it up along the way.
