Among Us 2
Hi everyone! Time for a big post!
First of all, thanks so much for playing and enjoying Among Us. It's been crazy to see how much more popular Among Us could be than we ever imagined.
Second of all, yes. We're confirming Among Us 2. This post is all about what that means and why we're doing it.
First and Most Important
Among Us 1 servers will stay alive for as long as it has enough players to start games. When we first started, we found that players couldn't really play when the servers had fewer than 30 - 50 players per hour. But lately we have 70,000 - 110,000 per hour. We'd be crazy to shut off the servers on you in 2021! And even if Among Us 2 gets lots of players, we'll just run both at the same time. If Among Us 1 servers shut down, I will open source the code so players can run servers instead.
But why a sequel?
Among Us 1 has been out over two years. It started as a tiny local-multiplayer-only game and has grown and grown and grown. Online multiplayer took 2 months and a total rework to make happen, then 6 months per extra map, and horrible server growing pains along the way. It really was not created to be this big. Because of this, it's extremely hard to add more things without breaking existing things. Frankly, it's terrifying to add in more things because the game is so fragile. Fixing this would require recreating core sections of Among Us, then making sure everything else still works on top. It's actually even harder than just making a new game.
So the first goal of Among Us 2 is to be made to withstand growth. We want to add to it at least as long as Among Us, but with fewer bugs along the way.
What will be in Among Us 2?
Well, first, we plan to basically include Among Us 1 in some capacity. Don't expect us to drag and drop all three maps directly over, but we think it's important to keep the simple play of Among Us with crewmates and impostors. But do expect some new options and balance tweaks. For example, we know very well that 3 impostor needs more than 10 players to be balanced, so 12-15 player games is a goal.
Second, we know that hide and seek is a very popular mode, but it is tough to find or exclude those games. Expect matchmaking to work very differently to better support custom modes and skill levels.
Also, we know that forming groups and making friends is tough. Accounts and friends will be in Among Us 2 straight out of the gate.
Better moderation: We know that hacking, bad behaviour, and toxic language is a problem in Among Us 1 and we definitely don't like it. But we never had the tools to really combat it effectively as a three person team, so expect Among Us 2 to launch with fewer hacks, a report button, moderators, etc.
But we've always known that the thing that would really make Among Us 2 unique from Among Us 1 is more roles. We aren't far enough in the design to confirm any roles or how they will work, but the primary addition for Among Us 2 is more complexity than just Crewmate vs Impostor. This should add a lot more replayability to the game and we're excited to see how we can shake things up for more advanced players.
We have a lot of other things we know players want to see, and a lot of surprises in store as well. So we definitely think Among Us 2 will be worthy sequel. That said, we want to get people playing it quickly, so we will probably start small in Early Access so we can grow Among Us 2 with player feedback. But the above is some of the key bare minimums before we launch at all.
Will it cost extra?
Yes, but.
We know a lot of players just started playing Among Us 1 which makes it look like we're quickly moving to a sequel, so we're going to try carry over some stuff from Among Us 1. We haven't confirmed that we can do any of this yet, but we might:
- Launch with a discount coupon for Among Us 1 owners on Steam.
- Keep Among Us 2 Mobile free but with (removable) ads.
- Have free big content updates like maps and game modes. We're not making that mistake again.
- Have in-game currency so we can break up big cosmetic bundles and let people buy/earn just the things they want.
When will it come out?
We really do not know at all. We just started planning. There is no art, programming or sound done at all. For the record Among Us took about 6 months to enter open beta (early access) and 6 more months to leave open beta. Among Us 2 will probably take at least as long to enter open beta, and will probably spend longer there.
Unlike Among Us 1, we expect to make Among Us 2 for PC first, then port to mobile. This will let us focus on making a great game faster because updates can come out in minutes on PC, where mobile can take hours or even days.
So basically
We're super hype to start Among Us 2. It'll take a while, but we'll make sure it's worth it. We hope you'll stick around to see what we can do.
Oh, also, we're launching merch on Friday August 21 at 12 PM (Noon, PST). Everything is on pre-order, but there will be shirts and a plush crewmate. The best places to hear when it launches are on Discord and our mailing list, but we'll do our best to get the word out.

Wait so Among Us is 5$ but on Mobile it’s free?
“Free” – it has targeted ads, and you can pay to have them removed. – Either way there’s DLC that you still have to pay for (like pets).
Pets are a choice. DUm Dum

They need to make ads on mobile, but it is free because it brings more people on the game, imagine ads on steam games, and ad revenue is a great source of money, maybe even better than the game be a game you need to pay to download, so.
This is 2020. Get used to it.
More customization for the character, please! People have been making several Sonas de Among Us, it would be nice to put more customization options.
It would be really cool if you could somehow make a port to console and make it all crossplay. I think a lot of people would like to play it on console and use game chat or just the standard keyboard.
One of my suggestions is having more unique death animations, as well as being able to customize the animation that will play for the victim when you kill them. Some can be free (like the original ones from Among Us 1) and some new ones can be bought with the ingame currency (If you add it in in Among Us 2)

Well my suggestion is:
1. Keep the core gameplay as simple as 1st among us. If you added more roles etc it ruin the "Mind Games" of original.
2. If you want more roles or variety. Make it a new game modes.
3. Suggested modes by me is: Alien mode--where theres a horror entity can move from vents to vents to kill astronaut but give astronaut ability to trap, escape even kill the alien too but NO GUNS. Alien isnt in a disguise but a horror creature that every astronaut know but need to prepare to defeat Alien or escape. Mode 2: No Killing-- Make impostor only can sabotage but not by map but going to the place to mess it up. So it will create fully to mind games and decide who to throw out. Mode 3: Murder Spesific roles-- Make only one impostor but astronaut have different roles. If one roles died, and that place is sabotaged. Then it will mess up many things, altering maps everytime a body found. Example: killing light electrician will make map dark until end of game of lightning is sabotaged because the only astronaut can fix it is dead. Also Impostor only can sabotage directly to the place not by map. Astronaut can still fix things but only related to landing bay. Mode 4 Identity theft--The impostor can steal other person likeness after killing. But can stay long to it because of time limit. The longer impostor stay to that form, the more creepier the form is. Impostor has different form and can ambush 1 person at start of the game. If seen, impostor automaticly lose. Impostor can kill anyone but also land to landing bay (See no 4). If the impostor land with other astronauts, astronauts loses. There is no dead bodies and death only noticeable if impostor dont wear the skin of their victims. So meetings triggered automaticly at several times. No voice chat.
4. Suggested enhanced feature: Make room more darker. Yes you cant really see anyone in the game if light turn off. But make it darker like pitch black except around the player, also make the one killed also dont know who the killer is while dark. Enhanced 2: Make time progressing too. So its pressure impostors and astronauts to make decisions and killing too. Example in space ship if the ship damaged and they near the landing bay they all died. So its pressure to astronauts. And if astronauts successfully lands, the impostor lose. Enhanced 3: Nerf vents, add ability to lock some vents for astronauts to block vents to make impostor killing harder, also related to time progress, more vents will be blocked closer to landing bay.
For your identity theft, I think that sight should be limited to what is in front of the astronaut, so they're not able to see people behind them and give the monster an opportunity to strike. But anyways, I think it is a great idea

There should be a shooter (name it whatever you want) he should have a gun so whenever he sees the imposter he doesn't have to report or call a meeting he can just shoot him in the face like the imposter but if he kills a crewmate the crewmate doesn't die but the shooter dose.
like the real murder mystery games, if the sherif kills a innocent person he/she and the innocent one will die, but, this one is more different. It’s good so that the crew mates doesn’t keep on decreasing (if there is more than one shooter).
I did the idea already, and now that i think, it would spoil the game.

Some suggestions here are outrageous and will just muddle the gameplay which I believe was meant to be as simple as possible, focusing on player interaction /chat. Instead devs should just polish what's already there. The UI, buttons, chat, etc

I mean as a cosmetic, for the people that want some arms. ( not me personally, but ik a few peoples )
Ok so people say have it so you can hide bodies in vents. What if when a body is hid in a vent, you cant go through it, and you have to decide whether to take out the body or not use the vents. And while you're deciding, Your character is holding a body so if someone walks in, they see you and can report the dead body while you'r holding it (risky but fastest) or call an emergency meeting (safe, but limited meetings)
Nah, maybe a gamemode that can do it but, it would be problematic if the impostor forgot that there was a body on the vents.
That's the point, imposters have it kinda easy
Can you make the sabotage map go away automatically after you've sabotaged something? Most of the time it's crucial to exit that map window so you can kill quickly after you've trapped someone (and the window exit button is even located on the upper left!)

please put a ranking system to solve the problems of people leaving the game and to make the game more challenging
Feature: List of people who did the Card Swipe however, the imposter can steal a card from a dead crewmate and do it.
Could there also be a prioritization implemented for people who bought the game? Like Steam owners and mobile players that paid to remove ads?
If there is one thing that I want, it would be a mode where there are three impostors, but they don't know who the other impostors are. When two impostors try to kill each other, they would enter an RPS-style duel, and the last impostor standing wins
Please add spectate mode so we can watch friend play without playing
Okay, so 2 things that need to be addressed:
1. Devs need to add a way to separate mobile players from those PC cheaters they’re legit ruining the game. (Implement ban hammer)
2. They need to add a report feature on player
hey I’d really like to see imposter chat so you can perform double kills more effectively and maybe if possible a way to hide bodies in vents
I agree with the imposter chat but how would hiding bodies in vents work and would it not be to easy for imposters with there favourite killing spot
I think that a body could go into a vent, but that vent could get clogged up so nobody could go into or out of that vent for the rest of the game.
I feel like it would be best to be able to carry a body through the vents rather than hide them there cuz that would b unfair. There should b like 7 seconds that they can have the body in the vents to have time to find a good drop off location for it or to keep it in there if someone is sticking around for a little too long
