The Future of Among Us
Hey everyone, PuffballsUnited here! It’s been a very exciting time for us the past few months! We’ve absolutely loved seeing everyone enjoying Among Us! Forte has been working hard to get the servers adjusted to deal with the huge influx of players. Thank you so much for bearing with us through these growing pains. Hopefully we can get started on new content soon! Speaking of new content…
Us devs have had several long discussions about what we want to do with the game. When do we stop working on Among Us 1? What content goes into Among Us 2? The main reason we are shooting for a sequel is because the codebase of Among Us 1 is so outdated and not built to support adding so much new content. However, seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level. We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1. All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1. This is probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it. We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing!
Here’s some things that are coming on the horizon:
* Servers. Forte is still working very hard to figure out our server issues. We don’t have an ETA but things should hopefully be getting better and better. This is taking up all development time on his end.
* Colorblind support. It’s something we’ve put off for way too long… We plan on adding other identifiers for players as well as certain color focused tasks (Like wires). This should also open the potential for more colors. In the past we couldn’t add more colors because it became too difficult to tell players apart.
* Friends/Account System. This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time but just haven’t been able to tackle. For the health of the game going forward we’re going to sink our teeth in and figure it out! This one will definitely take some time.
* A new stage! It is still very early and we have only just begun designing the layout. The theme has been settled on though! The next stage in Among Us is going to be a Henry Stickmin themed location!
We have LOTS of other things planned too, we just need to prioritize and organize all our plans. Stay tuned!

Well... I say don't add anything other than more controls for in lobby use and extra players, colors, and maps. I'd save any super Changes for a Squeal.
I would save a friend system for AU2, new roles for AU2, and more Expansive maps for AU2. The only thing I'd work towards in AU1 is Server stability, being able to change all Gameplay options in Lobby, maybe add map limits so round balance is stable(the skeld and Mira HQ can't handle the current limits as is so those need to be locked or maps need to be rescaled), and I'd use the stabilization/expansion process of AU1 be the groundwork for the Engine of AU2. I'd make the joke this is the AU1 remake process.
You guys have released an awesome game and with the influx of cash I'd do the overhaul to make the game stronger and save any major changes for the Squeal just so the original game isn't lost.
Yeah they just needed to add QOL updates to this game and just focus on the next among us.
Not colorblind myself, but support for disabilities always gets a thumbs up from me. Better late than never, but it would've been great at release.
What I thought would be a possibly the best way forward would to make it as customizable as possible. For example choosing where tasks would go what tasks they would be etc. More specifically I was hoping for custom maps. Is there any way this could still happen? If so when? Please and Thank you
If yall are using AWS for your servers, I am a Certified AWS Cloud Practitioner, and would love to help out with the servers. Just for something to put on my portfolio.
Me gustaria que agregen mas colores a las skins del juego

Hello! One change I would appreciate a lot would be to have player movement and camera scrolling update at 60FPS while you're running around on the map - 30FPS scrolling/movement in a top-down-ish 2D game like this just doesn't feel very good at all. Thankfully the game is slow-paced enough that it doesn't end up making me straight up nauseous like in some faster titles that have been inexplicably locked at 30FPS, but it's certainly not doing the game any favors either.
Besides that, everything here sounds solid! Looking forward to the updates!
turning on vsync will sync the games framerate to your monitor refresh rate, ive been able to play the game at 165 fps with it on
Me gustaria que ubiera modo historia tanto solo y con amigos.
Me emociana que mejores los servidores😊🥳🥳🥳
It would be really good to have an option that allow us to hide the task bar, the game is way less fun when people just stand behind other players and check task bar.
I absolutely agree with this. Especially because its just one more thing that can be lied about.
"I was in electrical with Red, and the bar didn't go up when he finished."
Red was ejected. Pink laughs maniacally, having just murdered Purple in medbay before "watching" Red in electrical.

I'd love if the bar only updated every 10 seconds, or otherwise was delayed info.
The other feature I most want to see is some punishment for leaving games. Basically, if you start a game, your lobby LOCKS to that game, and until the game is done, you can't join a new one. No more of these game-hoppers hunting for an imposter role.
Organized games are great, but joining public at random is a constant frustration of 1-3 people leaving each match (less than 10% of public games have 0 leavers from my experience).
You may not have encountered it yourself, but there is actually a punishment, it doesn't kick in until the 3rd game or so that you've left without playing. It starts at 5 minutes then if you do it again 10, so on so forth until some cool-down timer kicks in and after that you have 3 games again.
Yes, I can vouch for you with this. I was actually temporarily banned once but it wasn't intentional in my case since it's just due to my connection and not me purposefully quitting.
I'm then confused how I see it so much. Because the frequency it occurs would indicate zero repurcussions
That said, I can also see the math that this delay on the timer doesn't work. If you have a 20% chance per game of being imposter....
Game 1: 20% chance. If not, you leave (80%).
Game 2: 20% chance. If not, you leave (64%)
Game 3: 20% chance. If not, you leave (51.2%)
Based on that, a habitual leaver will get imposter before the timer kicks in basically 50% of the time. They'll then play through the game, and reset? their timer, allowing them to repeat
And the other 50% of the time, they just go play other games instead, having ruined 3 games for up to 9 other players each.
There shouldn't be a "3 game" trigger. It should occur the first time you leave, period. You're free to rejoin the game you left, but otherwise you have to wait for it to finish.
If "Visual Tasks" are turned OFF, it doesn't show the progress bar. Same for tasks like Weapons & Medbay Scan & Storage Trash Dump.

Im getting a lot of problem playing among us 1 and mainly it is the game crashing at random moments. I am not the only one experiencing this problem after redownloading it 4 times on 2 devices. Multiple ppl were talking about this problem on the discord server but ni one seemed to respond. I have and ipad air 1(2nd generation) (ipados 12.4.7) and my second device is an iphone 5s (ios 12.4.8)
I assume that this issue is going to be tackled in the same area as the servers. I've noticed this has happened a lot as well, so they have definitely noticed that this is an issue by now
the game wasn't designed to have as many players as it has nowadays, it's no wonder it crashes all the time. But now that they know the amount of people that play it they'll probably fix it
Yeah but i started playing the game since 1 and a half months ago, when the servers didnt really crash and the game was working perfectly fine on their device, but it was crashing on mines
I am so excited for all the new stuff and I'm really glad to see devs that actually care about the current and future health of their game!!! Even though it will be way more difficult I applaud you all for the direction you've chosen to go with it and I am so glad to support you guys in the future!!! :3c
While i'm super excited to hear this news, I am a bit disappointed that a henry stickmin level is being added. I am a big fan of the series, but I would much rather prefer original levels, not to mention the henry stickmin references that are already in the game.
are there any plans for community content?
that ruins the point, if it's not even then you can statistically tell who the impostor is
the problem with this is that you can base your votes on previous games. If there is a 50/50 for example, and one was previously the imposter, you are statistically more likely to vote out the imposter correctly solely based on how the game is made rather than what happens during the round.
he's not doing that because it would mean that cyan is trusted more, they talked about it in a different post i believe
if you want to be impostor more often, play with less people. If you play with 10 people then everyone's has 10% chance of being impostor, everyone has the same chance.
Or, you know, play with 3 impostors if you're so desperate for being one.
I mean it's just part of the game to get imposter like 5 times in a row
It's RNG based. If you play 2 imposter games, there's more chance for 2 other players to be chosen.
One player i've played with gotten it 3 times in a row. The 4th game they weren't and we voted them out.
While seeing more work on server stability is definitely nice, I would much rather we have the option to just host our own servers so we don't have to take up your resources and so streamers don't have to worry about accidentally leaking a code. I know this was in essence planned for the game's post-mortem, which is of course very appreciated, I'd rather have it sooner than later.
Also, just to add to the pile of suggestions here in the comments, please let us impostors move through vents using WASD ;)
This! I'd love to host my own server.
Hello there puffball. Big fan of the Henry games since Escaping the Prison and now a fan of Among Us.
It is amazing that you guys are going to keep supporting this game. I hope the transition is relatively painless and that the new version of the game (let's call it V2.0 for now) is more open to adding more things in the future.
A colourblind version would be great! There's a few colours I always mix up. People having identifiers on them will be really nice! (Live a +, =, *, etc on people's heads or something)
I hope that you guys do eventually start up an Among Us 2, while I'm playing I keep thinking about ideas that would be great additions to this game. There's so much possibility!
This is the most accessible Traitor game out here at the moment. It's so awesome that it's cross platform, and even though there are server troubles at the moment, when we get into a game it's very fun.
I hope one day another Discord server is made, as it's full and I can not join.
Lastly, if you guys are ever accepting feedback for ideas, I would love to contribute!
Will it still be open-source in the future?
I'd like to know this as well. I'd like to host my own servers.
they said that when among us has no more players, they'll open source
Rebuilding a game is not as easy as you think
Petition for Innersloth to create an API!! Imagine all the possible things you can do with it. I'm a developer and own a Discord server with 10,000 members in it. I did my best to make matchmaking as easier as ever. Like, a command that changes their voice channel name to their code. It helps a lot since people are just going to look into the name and see the code directly. What I wanted API for is to automate the sorting of the channels when a specific VC is in the lobby. Then people are going to stop hopping from channel to channel just to find a lobby. I also need it to automate auto-mute on voice channel, if there is no discussion and if the person died. Also, if people try to manually toggle it they might disconnect.
and what is said discord server?
It is mostly for Filipinos who would like to play with other Filipinos
